Two Million Dollar Settlement Reported in Settlement With Carl Debrodie’s Mother

Two million dollars will be paid to Carl Debrodie’s mother as part of a settlement with Callaway County.

Carolyn Summers settled a federal lawsuit with the Callaway County Public Administrator’s Office and Callaway County Special Services earlier this month over her son’s death.

The terms of the settlement were undisclosed previously and are being reported by ABC 17 News due to an open records request.

Investigators still do not know what caused DeBrodie’s death, the lawsuit accused employees of the Second Chance Group Home of forcing him to fight other residents for their entertainment.

Debrodie who had disabilities was found encased in concrete in April 2017 after he went missing from the group home.
