Columbia School Board Approves Some Redistricting Lines

An approval is now given by the Columbia School Board that will impact some district lines that will affect over a thousand students.

The board met last (Monday) night, where parents and students voiced concerns over the redistricting change saying that friends would be separated.

The change will affect around 1,400 middle and high school students.

Current freshman will be able to stay where they are at, while incoming freshman will have 2 options of starting at one high school for a year and then finish at another, or start at the school they will eventually be attending.

The rezoning is due to a new middle school being built on Sinclair Road scheduled to open in the fall of next year.
