Cause Of Mexico Pipeline Fire Unknown
The cause of a major natural gas pipeline explosion and fire just north of Mexico early yesterday (Sunday) morning is still unknown.
A rupture happened approximately one mile north of Mexico along Highway 15 around 3:30 yesterday (Sunday) morning.
It took around 40 minutes to put the fire out.
One Mix Country 96 listener reported hearing the explosion in Laddonia.
The pipeline is owned by Panhandle Eastern Company.
The company has a history of regulatory issues, according to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and the U.S. Department of Transportation documents.
Missouri Route 15 about one mile north of Mexico, just south of the Davis Creek Bridge, will remained closed today (Monday), and is expected to reopen tomorrow (Tuesday).
