Lake Ozark Woman Accused Of Burning Baby Skips Court Appearance

A search is on for a Lake Ozark woman accused of burning her baby.

25 year old Elizabeth G. Austin failed to appear for a court hearing on Wednesday.

Lake Ozark Police say her 6 month old daughter was taken to the hospital with severe burns in February after the girl was left alone in the bathtub.

According to a probable cause statement Austin told police she was trying to get her four year old child, who was walking around with a knife, under control.

Austin says her 2 year old child, who was with the baby in the bathroom, pushed the infant under a faucet and turned on the hot water.

According to court records police found meth and drug paraphernalia in Austin’s home.
