Columbia Manufacturing Plant Laying Off Forty One Positions

A Columbia manufacturing plant is announcing a lay off of forty one positions by the end of this week.

The Watlow company made the announcement yesterday (Monday) that its Columbia facility is making the layoffs in order to make more innovative, value added products, that require manufacturing precision.

The company makes gas delivery systems, along with heaters, and heat-sensing equipment which are used in the manufacturing of semiconductors and computer chips.

Another round of reductions is expected in July.

The jobs are being relocated to the Watlow Plant in Queretaro, Mexico.
