Former Columbia Police Chief Ken Burton Arrested On Suspicion Of DWI

Former Columbia Police Chief Ken Burton is facing DWI charges after being arrested last (Thursday) night in Columbia.

According to reports DWI Enforcement officers stopped a car Burton was driving at the intersection of Broadway and McBaine Avenue around 8:18 last (Thursday) night.

Burton was issued a municipal summons for DWI and later released.

He was the Columbia Police Chief from April of 2009 until last year.

In December of last year he was placed on administrative leave, and then resigned a week later.

Reports from the Columbia Missourian said that during Burton’s tenure as chief he had a history of frequently being late and missing events while drinking at a local bar.
