Lawmakers Receive Update From SEMA On Flooding
The State Emergency Management Agency is updating Missouri lawmakers on the flooding disaster that swept through areas this spring.
The SEMA Director Ron Walker appeared before the Joint Committee on Disaster Preparedness and Awareness yesterday (Tuesday) afternoon.
Walker said that SEMA is still waiting on President Trump to respond on a federal disaster declaration by Governor Mike Parson that was requested at the end of April.
Walker said Missouri is in a period of stabilization currently.
That means that no new major flood events have happened, and if more were to come, the state would have to file a new declaration.
