Over Three Million Dollar Settlement Reached With Gabriella Curry Family
3.4 million dollars will be paid by the City of Columbia in a settlement reached with the family of Gabriella Curry, who died after being hit by a police vehicle in January.
Court documents show that each of Gabriella’s parents will receive more than 1.1 million dollars, and the attorneys for the family will get over 1.7 million dollars.
The city will also cover funeral expenses which are just under twenty seven thousand dollars.
Gabriella Curry was hit by Columbia Police Officer Andria Heese while driving her vehicle onto a sidewalk at Battle High School to monitor school buses.
Curry died at the University Hospital a short while later.
Heese is currently still on administrative leave.
