Chariton County Facing Involuntary Manslaughter Charges

A Chariton County man is facing a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the death of a woman who drowned in flood waters.

Forty five year old James Pleasant is being held on a 50 thousand dollar bond after he allegedly drove around a barricade on Route M and his vehicle was washed off the road on May 31.

Pleasant was able to escape the car but his passenger, 33 year old Alicia Meyer, who was primarily confined to a wheelchair, was unable to get out.

Her body was found yesterday. [Tuesday]

A court date has not been set.
