Strong winds are to blame for an airplane crash at the Jefferson City Airport over the weekend.

It happened on Saturday morning just after 11.

The Jefferson City Fire Department found the single engine aircraft at 500 Airport Road on its top 10 feet off the runway.

The pilot was able to get out of the plane and refused medical treatment.
