Man And Woman Accused Of Animal Abuse In Audrain County Scheduled For Court

Two people charged with animal abuse in Audrain County are scheduled to appear in court in September.

The Audrain County prosecuting attorney charged James Johns and Taylor Stout with animal abuse by torture on Monday.

Johns and Stout are accused of abusing animals at the Downtown Pet Stop in Mexico earlier this month.

According to officers Johns and Stout repeatedly slammed a dog onto a grooming table in an effort to control it and held it down while they shook it by the ears.

The owner of business called the police after a customer told her of the incident and reviewing video surveillance footage, according to the probable cause statement.

Both Stout and Johns are scheduled to appear in the Audrain County Court on September 18th.
