Man Dead After Officer Involved Shooting In Pettis County

An investigation is underway in Pettis County after a man was shot and killed in an officer involved shooting last (Tuesday) night.

According to the Missouri Highway Patrol it happened around 6:35, at a home in rural northwest Pettis County near Oak Point Road and Beaver Dam Road, about 6 miles north of La Monte.

Deputies went to a domestic disturbance, and the suspect reportedly came out with a weapon, ignoring verbal commands to drop the weapon.

Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Bill Lowe says a preliminary indication is that the man did raise the weapon and deputies fired their weapons hitting the suspect.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
