Moreau Fire Protection District Board President Ordered Fined For Misuse Of Taxpayer Money
The president of the Moreau Fire Protection District Board based in Eldon is being ordered to pay money back after she reportedly used taxpayer funds for a family business.
State auditor Nicole Galloway said yesterday, her office investigated a whistle-blower complaint about Rebecca Wood approving payments from the fire protection district to an electronics business she owns.
According to Galloway the payments were made without proper bidding or public notice.
On December 16th, the Missouri Ethics Commission ordered Wood must pay $25.910, however if she pays $5,182 within 45 days of the order, she won’t have to pay the rest.
