Jefferson City Man Found Guilty of Second Degree Rape By Boone County Jury

A Jefferson City man is facing sentencing after a Boone County Jury found him guilty of second-degree rape.

The jury made the ruling last night in the case of Jemell Butler.

He is accused of raping a 20 year old woman he met in downtown Columbia on April 8th, 2017 in a wooded area off Oak Street.

A DNA analysis conducted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol crime lab found a sperm cell fraction in the underwear of the woman, and a profile of it matched Butler’s.

Sentencing could start on March 2nd.
