Prosecutor In Elledge Case Objecting To Change Of Venue Request
The prosecutor in the upcoming trial of Joseph Elledge on child abuse charges is objecting to a defense request for change of venue.
In a court filing this week, arguments were made that a Missouri Supreme Court rule requires that an application for change of venue must be filed no later than 10 days after the initial plea is entered, and Elledge’s lawyer failed to meet that deadline.
Elledge’s lawyer argued he failed to make the motion within the deadline, however the court could grant the request, primarily on grounds of substantial negative media coverage of Elledge.
