Two Mizzou School Of Journalism Legendary Broadcasters Pass Away

Two legendary broadcasters with ties to Mizzou’s School of Journalism have died.

85-year old Jim Lehrer, best known for his work on PBS as host of the “MacNeil-Lehrer NewsHoir” and “The NewsHour With Jim Lehrer”, died peacefully earlier today at his home in Washington.

He was a 1956 graduate of the School of Journalism at Mizzou.

Rod Gelatt, Missouri School of Journalism Professor Emeritus and former news director of KOMU Channel 8 died at 93 on Sunday at his home in Arizona.

He joined the faculty of the J School in 1963 and from 1980 to 1993 hosted KOMU’s local public affairs program “Missouri Forum.”
