Columbia Patrol Vehicle Collision

A Columbia Police Officer and a Kaiser, Missouri woman recovering from injuries after a collision early yesterday (Monday) morning.

According to the Columbia Police Department officers were dispatched to a report of a tire in the northbound passing lane of U.S. Highway 63.

While the patrol vehicle was stopped in the passing lane with all emergency lights activated, one officer was on the side of the road removing the tire from the road, while the other officer was seated in the front passenger of the patrol car.

A vehicle driven by 25 year old Kylie Rochel Shephard struck the back of the patrol vehicle, and Shepherd’s vehicle caught fire.

Shephard and the officer in the patrol car were taken to a local emergency room for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
