Columbia Police Cruiser Involved in Three Car Accident

Two people and a Columbia police officer are recovering from non-life threatening injuries after a 2 car accident on Providence Road and Nifong Boulevard yesterday afternoon.

A Columbia Police Department cruiser was heading to a foot chase when it was hit by an SUV around 1:30 yesterday afternoon.

The SUV then also struck a third vehicle.

The driver of that vehicle was not injured.

The officer was taken to urgent care and the 2 people in the SUV were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
