Columbia City Council Passes Mandatory Face Mask Ordinance

A mandatory face mask ordinance is now passed in Columbia.

The Columbia City Council voted 6-1 last (Monday) night to require Columbia citizens to wear a mask at all times while in public places.

The order goes into effect on July 10th at 5pm.

The decision applies to anyone 10 and older however provides exceptions to those who cannot wear a mask because of health reasons or disabilities.

Those not wearing a mask will be charged a fifteen dollar fine and businesses will get a one hundred dollar fine if they are found violating the ordinance.

The ordinance is set for 90 days. After, the Columbia City Council will revisit the decision.
