DESE Using CARES Act Funding to Put Together Impact of School Shutdown on Student Learning

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education will be using CARES Act funding to look at how the school shutdown impacted students’ learning.

DESE Commissioner Margie Vandeven said yesterday (Monday) it would be using 55 million dollars in funding to put together the assessment.

One of those issues is students falling behind due to not being in the classroom for the last couple of months of learning.

The department plans to be able to have results returned to schools in just one week.
