Boone County and Columbia Health Officials Clarify What is Considered a Mask

The Columbia/Boone County Health Department is clarifying what is considered a mask after the Columbia City Council approved a mask wearing ordinance on Monday night.

The ordinance defines a mask as a covering made of cloth, fabric, or other soft or permeable material, without holes, that covers only the nose and mouth surrounding areas of the lower face according to the health department.

They go on to say the ordinance does state a mask may be factory made, or may be homemade and improvised from ordinary household materials.

A health department spokesman says they are working on a document to answer any questions people may have about the order, and it is expected to be published sometime today (Wednesday).
