Randolph County Sheriff Candidate Charged With Election Crime

A candidate for Randolph County Sheriff is being charged with an election crime.

Special prosecutor Corey Mon charged William H. Barger yesterday (Wednesday) with a class four election offense.

The prosecutor says Barger promised voters he would cut his salary if elected.

Missouri state law prohibits candidates from doing this as it is classified as an inducement to voters.

Barger is running against Chris Wertz and Aaron Wilson in the August primary.

All three candidates are Republicans.
