Missouri Department of Agriculture Receiving Reports of Residents Getting Unsolicited Seeds Through the Mail
The Missouri Department of Agriculture is receiving reports from residents of unsolicited seeds being delivered from countries such as China and surrounding areas.
The packages were labeled as jewelry, specifically stud earrings, bracelets and other accessories.
According to the Missouri Department of Agriculture the seeds could be an invasive species that has the potential to destroy native plants and damage crops, and could also introduce diseases to plants and may be harmful to livestock.
If Missouri residents have received the unsolicited seeds, they are asked not to open the seed package and contact the Missouri Department of Agriculture’s Plant Industries Division by phone at 573-721-2462.
