More Details Emerge From Fatal Shooting in Mexico at Garfield Park

According to Mexico Public Safety 18 year old Javone L. Hornbeak turned himself in yesterday (Thursday) morning after a fatal shooting in the 900 block of Tyronn Lue Boulevard that left 17 year old Tornez Burton dead and 17 year old Jzyeshawn Palmer injured with a gunshot wound to his leg.

KOMU News is reporting the probable cause statement reads Hornbeak said he went to Garfield Park with Burton in order to fight Palmer, and several others.

Police say Hornbeak admitted to having a gun with him for protection and safety.

Hornbeak also told police he fired his gun 6 times after Palmer hit Burton.

He then reportedly said he shot Palmer on accident, but did not shoot Burton, saying someone else with a gun did that, and did not know where his shots went, and then dropped his gun and ran off.

The fun was reported stolen in March.

His first court appearance is scheduled for August 11th.

Hornbeak was arrested for Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Armed Criminal Action and could face additional charges and others could be charged as will as the investigation continues.
