First Recorded Sighting of a Brown Booby in Missouri

A seabird is making a rare appearance in Missouri.

The Missouri Department of Conservation said the state made history after a Brown Booby showed up along the Current River in Ripley County on Saturday.

Brown Boobies are large, long-winged seabirds that are often seen from southern Florida south on the Caribbean and Pacific coasts of Central America to northern South America.

According to the Missouri Department of Conservation, this is the first recorded sighting of a Brown Booby in Missouri.
