State Board of Education Approves Additional Route for Substitute Teachers

The State Board of Education is approving an alternate route to becoming a substitute teacher in Missouri.

With an anticipated need for additional substitute teachers amid the COVID pandemic, the board approved a plan to allow high school graduates to complete a 20-hour online training course.

Those residents that have at least 60-semester hours of college credit are still eligible to obtain their substitute certificate.

The emergency rule will take effect September 2nd.
