Westminster College Environmental Science Students and Professor with Rare Find

Westminster environmental science students and a professor have found a rare triceratops skull.

Earlier this summer, they embarked on a research excavation in the Badlands of South Dakota.

The skull, measured in at almost seven feet long and weighing a massive three thousand pounds.

The entire trip lasted about 2 months, along with the skull, the team found 20 other bones believed to be from the same triceratops and 2 turtle shells.

Transporting the find back to Westminster was an intensive process that required thick coats of plaster to be applied to the skull to protect it during transit.
