St. Louis Cardinals Nation is mourning the loss of Hall of Fame hitter and base stealer Lou Brock.

He died yesterday (Sunday) at the age of 81.

Brock started his career with the Chicago Cubs in 1961 before being traded to the Cardinals during the 1964 season.

As a member of the Cardinals, he was a 6 time All-Star and won 2 World Series titles.

When he retired he had 3,023 hits and held the record with 938 stolen bases from 1971 to 1991.

Brock was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1985, during his first year of eligibility.

The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Chicago Cubs 7-3 last night (Sunday).

The Redbirds have taken 3 in a row from the Cubs at Wrigley Field and are just 1 and 1/2 games behind Chicago for first place in the National League Central.

The series finale takes place this afternoon.

The Kansas City Royals were swept by the Chicago White Sox with an 8-2 loss yesterday.

Kansas City dropped their sixth consecutive game and hold the third-worst record in baseball.
