KWWR Sports Report 9/9

The Mexico Bulldogs girls softball team lost 13-1 to the Kirksville Tigers on the road last night (Tuesday).

The Lady Dogs are now 5-2 overall and 1-1 in the North Central Missouri Conference.

They are back in action tomorrow (Thursday) for their first home game of the season against the Hannibal Pirates.

In more softball scores from last night the Community R-6 Lady Trojans with a big 20-1 win over Pilot Grove. The Lady Trojans are off to a 2-0 start and will play their home opener on Friday against Pilot Grove.

Monroe City defeated Clark County 4-2.

Monroe City’s starting pitcher Riley Quinn struck out 12 in the win.

Missouri Head Football Coach Eli Drinkwitz says that 4 members of the team have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Coach Drink made the comments during a Zoom press conference with reporters yesterday (Tuesday).

He also said that 14 others are in quarantine due to contact tracing.

It is the most players out due to COVID-19 since they began practicing in August.

The Tigers open the season September 26th against Alabama.

The St. Louis Cardinals split a doubleheader against the Minnesota Twins at Busch Stadium yesterday (Tuesday).

Minnesota took game one, 7-3.

The Redbirds would bounce back in game with a 6-4 victory.

St. Louis has the day off today before starting a series with Detroit Tigers tomorrow (Thursday).

The Kansas City Royals snapped a 7 game losing streak with an 8-6 win over the Cleveland Indians last (Tuesday) night.

Whit Merrifield hit a three-run home run as the Royals came back from 2 deficits to get the win on the road.
