The Mexico Bulldogs and the Fulton Hornets will play the 100th annual Highway 54 Bowl tonight (Friday) at Hawthorne Heights in Mexico.

The Bulldogs come in with a 2-2 record and 1-1 in the North Central Missouri Conference.

The Hornets are still in search of their first win of the season at 0-5 and are 0-2 in the NCMC.

Fulton is ahead in the 54 Bowl series with 63 win to Mexico’s 59 and there have been 6 ties.

Mexico has won the last 7 meetings.

Kickoff is at 7.

In other Week 6 high school football action tonight several game changes include Hallsville hosting Marshall.

The Indians needed a new opponent after Southern Bone was forced to cancel earlier in the week.

Moberly will host Battle.

Moberly had already rescheduled with Battle when Marshall initially dropped out earlier in the week.

Battle was in need of a game after Smith-Cotton canceled its match-up with Battle due to COVID concerns.

Kirksville travels to Hannibal.

Centralia is at Clark County.

Monroe City is on the road at Palmyra.

North Callaway hosts the Bowling Green Bobcats.

And Paris is at home against Marceline.

In softball last night the Mexico Lady Bulldogs defeated Moberly on the road 6-4.

Jordyn Thurman had 3 hits, 3 RBI and pitched 2 innings with 4 strikeouts.

Eboni Mayfield got the win and also had a hit.

Riley Thurman was 2-3 with a run scored.

Kierstan Epperson and Taylor DeMint also provided the Lady Dogs with hits.

Mexico improved to 12-9 on the season and are back at it on Saturday morning in the Centralia Invitational Tournament against Palmyra.

The St. Louis Cardinals lost 11-9 to the San Diego Padres in game 2 of their best of 3 Wild Card Series last night (Thursday) night.

The Redbirds jumped out to an early lead against the Padres and held a 6-2 lead in the sixth inning.

Then the Padres potent offense led by Fernando Tatis Jr. and Wil Myers each hit two home runs sparking a comeback and staving off elimination.

A decisive game 3 takes place tonight.
