The Mexico Bulldogs Softball team lost 7-4 to the Hannibal Pirates last night (Wednesday) on the road.

Abby Oetting went 3-4, Brooke Teel was 2-3 with a run scored.

Lexie Willer recorded a hit and drew 2 walks with a run scored.

Mexico is now 15-11 and play Fulton at home tonight (Thursday) at 5pm.

Changes to the postseason for softball and boys soccer is being announced by the Missouri State High School Athletics Association.

The semifinal rounds for fall softball will now be hosted by a member school, with classes 2 through 5 playing October 24th and class 1 on October 27th.

All five championship games will be held at the Killian Softball Complex in Springfield, Missouri on October 29th through 31st.

Third place games will not be played. Boys soccer will have classes 3 and 4 district tournaments October 31st through November 4th.

The championship games will be played November 20th and 21st, however the location of those games is still being worked out.

Third-place games will not be played.

The Southern Boone football team will be playing their next game in Kansas City on Saturday at Tonganoxie High School.

A rise in coronavirus cases led to the decision to schedule the game on Saturday instead of Friday.

It will be the first ever meeting between the 2 schools.

Last week Southern Boone’s game against Hallsville was canceled due to a COVID-19 outbreak and 25 players were quarantined.

Southern Boone Head Coach Trent Tracy says his team will have enough players available to play on Saturday.

Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle Chris Jones remains day-to-day with a groin injury.

Jones suffered the injury at the end of Week 3 and missed some practice in the days leading up to the Chiefs battle against the New England Patriots on Monday.

Jones was off to a fantastic start to the season with 6 quarterback hits and 3.5 sacks in his first 3 games of the year.
