Missouri State Fire Marshal Urging People Not to Burn Items Outside

The Missouri state fire marshal is urging people to not burn items outside due to a statewide drought that has impacted the state for several weeks.

Fire Marshal Tim Bean sent out a news release yesterday (Tuesday) saying that under current dry conditions, even a small outdoor fire can get out of control and spread rapidly.

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag warning for parts of Central and Eastern Missouri including Jefferson City, Columbia and Mexico from 1 this afternoon until 6 tonight.

Wind gusts could reach as high as 37 miles per hour.
