Thousands of Rapid COVID-19 Tests Being Shipped to Missouri Schools

Thousands of COVID-19 tests are being shipped to public and private schools this week.

Almost 330 schools and school districts applied to participate in Missouri’s BinaxNOW Antigen Testing Program for K-12 institutions.

Around 583,000 test kits were requested for use among symptomatic students and school personnel according to the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The coronavirus tests must be administered by a health professional such as a school nurse and yield results in only 15 minutes.

Many of the schools will perform these rapid tests onsite after receiving consent from the staff member or the student’s parent.

Some of the district’s that will receive the rapid tests include New Bloomfield, Bowling Green, Centralia, Columbia, Fulton, Hallsville, South Callaway, and Van-Far.
