Virtual Meeting With Audrain County Health & Community Leaders to Discuss COVID-19

Health and community leaders from around Audrain County hold weekly virtual meeting this afternoon (Wednesday) to discuss COVID-19 responses.

Audrain County Health Department Administrator Craig Brace says Audrain County is in the critical risk category according to state guidelines and that the department is anticipating a post-Thanksgiving increase in positive novel coronavirus cases in the next 5 to 10 days.

Representatives from SSM St. Mary’s – Audrain said their drive-through testing is still available Monday through Friday mornings from 9 until noon at the north entrance to the hospital and that critical care beds are becoming harder to find in Missouri for transfers and that they have had to find beds in Kansas.

Van-Far and St. Joseph School have both instituted mask mandates since returning to in-seat instruction this week.

The Audrain County Commission reported that nearly a quarter of a million dollars in CARES Act funding in Phase 4 was distributed to non-profit organizations.

Missouri Military Academy representatives reported that cadets will start returning home for the holiday break on December 6th and will return to campus on January 3rd.
