COVID-19 Vaccines Expected to Arrive in Audrain County Soon

COVID-19 vaccines should arrive in Audrain County on December 22, according to Audrain County Health Department CEO Craig Brace.

The information was shared in today’s (Wednesday’s) inter-agency meeting with health and community leadership.

ACHD will be getting the Moderna vaccine and will be vaccinating front-line healthcare workers that have direct exposure to patients, including non-SSM clinics and the Arthur Center Community Health.

SSM will be in charge of vaccinating their employees, and according to Dr. Lenora Adams their vaccine will be the Pfizer vaccine as they have the capability for extreme cold storage that it requires.

SSM Jefferson City is taking the lead on getting the vaccine for Capital Region and University of Missouri Hospitals as they too have cold storage.

Dr. Simon McKeown with SSM Urgent Care reported they are seeing an average of 6 to 8 positive cases daily and that patients can usually pinpoint where they caught the virus… typically from social gatherings.
