The Mexico Bulldogs Girls Basketball Team defeated the Columbia Battle Spartans 52-51 on the road last night (Thursday).

It was a huge comeback win the Lady Bulldogs who only had one lead in the first half and were down by 10 points at half time.

Mya Miller led the team in scoring with 26.

It’s Riley Thurman who hit a 3 to give Mexico the lead with just 58 seconds to go in the game.

Thurman finish with 14 points.

Riley Blevins put up 8 points.

The Mexico girls improved to 3-1 on the season and next play Hannibal on the road next week on Thursday, December 17th.

In other high school games last night the Community R6 Lady Trojans with a dominant 53-18 win over Wellsville.

The North Callaway Thunderbirds Boys Basketball Team lost to Sturgeon 57-49 in the semi-finals of the Centralia Tournament.

North Callaway Boys play their home opener on Tuesday against Van-Far.

Second place in the SEC East will be up for grabs tomorrow (Saturday) when No. 25 Missouri hosts the 9th ranked Georgia Bulldogs in college football action.

Georgia leads the series 7-1 since Mizzou joined the SEC in 2012 and is favored by 13, however the Tigers are one of the hottest teams in the conference and are 4-1 at home this year.

Kickoff tomorrow is at 11am.

Kansas City Royals catcher Salvador Perez is the 2020 American League Comeback Player of the Year.

The six-time All-Star won the honor yesterday (Thursday) after missing all of the 2019 season because of Tommy John surgery.

He also missed the start of Summer Camp after testing positive for COVID-19 and missed 3 weeks during the season because of a rare eye condition that caused blurriness.

Perez overcame those hurdles and in 37 games in 2020, hit 11 home runs and 12 doubles, and drove in 32 runs.
