The Mexico Bulldogs Basketball Team made a huge step forward in their quest of winning the North Central Missouri Conference defeating the Fulton Hornets 70-63 in overtime on the road last night (Monday).

Isaiah Reams led the team with 21 as the Bulldogs improved to 7-0 on the season.

In other high school basketball the Community R6 Lady Trojans remained undefeated with a 69-18 domination of Westran in the 1st round of the New Franklin Tournament last night (Monday).

The Lady Trojans jumped out to an 18-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game and were led in scoring by Sarah Angel with 17.

Brianna Beamer had 12 points, 6 assists and 5 steals. Alexis Welch pitched in with 10 points and 4 rebounds. Emma Angel with 8, Emmi Johnson had 7 points, Bryanna Beamer with 5, Emma Hombs with 5, Paige Meyer had 4 points, and Kylie Brooks checked into the scoring book with 1 point.

The #1 seeded Lady Trojans will next play the tournament’s host team New Franklin tomorrow night (Wednesday).

In another rivalry game in high school basketball last night (Monday) the South Callaway girls took out North Callaway 64-26.

The 13th ranked Missouri Tigers Men’s Basketball Team will be on the road tonight (Tuesday) for an SEC matchup against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

The Tigers are coming off an 81-68 win over Arkansas on Saturday, where Jeremiah Tilmon put career high 25 points.

Tip-off is at 8pm.

The NCAA is announcing this year’s men’s college basketball tournament will be played entirely in Indiana.

Games will be played on 2 courts inside of Lucas Oil Stadium, the home to the Indianapolis Colts.

Early round dates have not been set, but Final Four is still scheduled for April 3rd. Last March, the pandemic forced both the men’s and women’s tournaments to be called off.
