KWWR Sports Report 1/13

In high school basketball the Community R6 Lady Trojans dominated at home against Madison last night with a 68-18 victory.

Scoring leaders for the Lady Trojans was Brianna Beamer with 20 points, 6 assists, and 3 steals.

Alexis Welch also put up 20 points, had 8 rebounds and 3 blocks.

Sarah Angel finished with 13 points and 4 steals.

Emma Angel with 6 points, Emma Hombs had 5 points, Paige Meyer with 2 and Brynna Beam had 2 points.

The next game for the R6 girls will be Saturday at 3pm in Canton.

The North Callaway Boys Basketball Team lost to Vienna 57-44 in the South Callaway Tournament.

Cody Cash put up 23 points for the Thunderbirds.

North Callaway will next play tomorrow night (Thursday) in the consolation bracket of the South Callaway Tourney when they take on New Bloomfield.

The Jefferson City High School has a new head football coach. It was announced yesterday (Tuesday) that Damon Wells will replace Scott Bailey, who resigned after one season with Jays.

Wells will also serve as the activities director at the Jefferson City High School.

Wells comes from Rifle High School in Colorado, where never had a losing season, going 118-35 in 13 years and claiming 3 state title games in 2005, 2012, and 2014.

The St. Louis Blues will open the regular season tonight against the Colorado Avalanche on the road.

St. Louis and Colorado split the season series in 2019-2020 with the home team winning each game.

The matchup kicks off a 2 game series against Colorado before the Blues return home to play 4 straight beginning with the home opener on January 18th against San Jose.
