Audrain County Health Department Releases Numbers From Mass COVID-19 Vaccination in Mexico

The numbers are in from the mass vaccination clinic held yesterday (Friday) at the Mexico Memorial Airport.

According to the Audrain County Health Department, roughly 1,600 vaccinations were delivered.

Those eligible were Missouri residents age 65 or over and those 18 and over that had comorbidities.

Five people that did not meet those criteria were turned away at the initial screening point.

Audrain County Health Department Administrator Craig Brace was happy that such a low number had to be turned away, saying that the number of vaccines given equates to four Audrain County lives being saved.

The event involved 45 Missouri National Guard members, along with help from the Audrain County Emergency Management Agency and the City of Mexico, among others.

The second dose of the vaccine will be given on February 19th at the airport with only those vaccinated yesterday (Friday) being allowed at the event.
