Columbia Assault Victim Dies

A Columbia woman who was the victim of a shooting earlier this week has died from her injuries.

33 year old Maya Leah Wootton, died yesterday (Thursday) at a local hospital.

The shooting took place in the 200 block of Orchard Court in Columbia on Monday morning and the case was initially being investigated as an assault.

The Criminal Investigations Division is now treating the case as a homicide investigation.

Two suspects were arrested on Monday were 34 year old Lucas Gordon Harper and 25 year old Elizabeth Emily Dye.

Both are currently held in the Boone County Jail.
