Columbia Public Schools Board of Education to Vote on Five Day In-Person Learning Return

The Columbia Public Schools Board will vote tonight (Monday) on whether or not to allow students to return to school five days per week.

During a board of education meeting last month Superintendent Dr. Peter Stiepleman said he would not recommend going back full-time until most teachers in the district had access to the vaccine.

Phase 1, Tier 3 of the state’s vaccination plan will make teachers eligible for the vaccine next Monday.

Around 700 of Columbia Public Schools 3,000 employees have received at least one dose as of last week.

Families who opted for their students to learn fully remote for the rest of the school year will not be able to return in-person after the vote.

The meeting starts at 6:30 tonight (Monday).
