Mexico Bulldogs Boys Magical Season Comes to an End in Quarterfinal Sectional Playoff Loss to Van Horn on the Road

The Mexico Bulldogs Boys Basketball season came to an end tonight (Friday) with a 91-83 overtime quarterfinal Sectional playoff loss on the road to the Van Horn Falcons.

It was a close battle between two of the top teams in Class 5.

It was a quick paced first quarter and Mexico would outscore Van Horn 24-22.

Mexico would lead by as many as 10 in the second quarter and take a 34-30 lead into halftime.

The Bulldogs added to their lead in the third outpacing Van Horn 21-19.

The Falcons went on a 8-0 run in the fourth quarter and would take the lead.

Mexico would trail by 2 in the closing seconds of the fourth quarter however would tie the game at 76 and send the game into overtime.

Van Horn would outlast the Bulldogs in overtime outscoring them 13-8.

Isaiah Reams led Mexico in scoring finishing with 22 points.

Daeye Miller put up 19.

Drew Blevins finished the game with 18.

And it was Raef Yager rounding out the final game of his high school career with 14.

Mexico ends the season with a 22-4 record, co-champions of the North Central Missouri Conference and District Champions.

Mexico Head Coach Darren Pappas coached to his best record yet years in just his fourth season.
