Northern Illinois University All-American and Mexico, MO native Brit Wilson finished 6th place at this year’s NCAA Wrestling Championships at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis yesterday (Saturday).

Wilson became the first NIU wrestler to place at the NCAA Championships since 2004.

Wilson suffered a 6-2 setback to Northern Iowa’s Parker Keckeisen in the consolation quarterfinal match.

He then moved onto the fifth-place match against Dakota Geer of Oklahoma State falling 6-0.

Brit is the first Huskie to place at the NCAA’s since Ben Heizer, who took second in 2004 at 184.

The Mexico Baseball Team went 0-2 yesterday (Saturday) in a triangular at Green Field.

Mexico lost 10-7 to Excelsior Springs and fell 6-1 to Marshfield.

The Bulldogs are now 1-2 on the season.

Mexico will play their first road game of the year on Tuesday night at 5pm against Hallsville.

The Mizzou Tigers Men’s Basketball Team had their season come to an end with a 72-68 loss to the Oklahoma Sooners in the first round of the NCAA Tournament last night (Saturday).

Senior guard Dru Smith led the Tigers with a season high six 3-pointers.

He finished with 20 points, three steals, and 2 rebounds.

Senior guard Mark Smith drained 3 three-pointers to combine for 11 points, four rebounds, and an assist.

Senior forward Jeremiah Tilmon muscled his way to 16 points and 12 rebounds, securing his 8th double-double of the season and the 13th of his career.

Mizzou ends the season with a record of 16-10, and a winning percentage of .615, the highest since the 2012-2014 squad netted a .657 win percentage.

Mizzou Women’s Basketball closed the season with a 50-39 loss in the consolation round of the Women’s National Invitational Tournament yesterday (Saturday) afternoon in Forth Worth, Texas.

Redshirt junior guard Haley Troup scored a team-high 14 points and shot 6-of-13 from the field.

Aijha Blackwell scored 9 points and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds.

The St. Louis Blues defeated the San Jose Sharks 5-2.
