Mexico Boys Scout’s Leadership Project Takes Root

A Mexico Boy Scout is taking on a leadership project in an effort to attain Eagle Scout status, and the results of the project will be long-lasting.

16-year old James Branson, member of Troop 57 in Mexico, recruited other scouts, friends and family to help plant 500 trees at Mexico’s Green Estates Park this morning (Saturday).

James and 20 to 25 helpers expect to have the seedlings planted in about 2 hours after starting at 8:00.

They are planting 250 Redbud trees and 150 Shumard Oaks mainly along existing tree lines within the park.

When asked why this project specifically was important to him, James said that he wanted to be able to point out something to people in 20 years an say that he did that.
