KWWR Sports Report 4/22

The Mexico Bulldogs High School Baseball Team defeated the Hannibal Pirates 5-4 in a walk off win in extra innings last night (Wednesday).

Josh Forbis, Landon Kleinsorge and William Dobyns combined on the mound giving up just 2 earned runs and scattering 4 hits over 8 innings.

Ty Prince, Daeye Miller and Andrew Runge all recorded 2 hits.

Tyler Thoenen was the hero with the walk off RBI.

Mexico improved to 8-6 overall and are 4-3 in the North Central Missouri Conference.

The Bulldogs will travel to Kirksville for another conference game tonight with a varsity starting at 5pm.

The Mexico High School Boys Tennis Team will host Senior Night tonight (Thursday) at the Fairground Netplex with a match against Osage.

The celebration starts at 4:15 and the team will honor seniors Randy Hernandez, Carter McIntosh, Ryan Pemberton, Bryson Stuehmer, Noah Harlan, Andrew Stephens, and Mathew Huemann.

Matches begin at 4:30.

The St. Louis Cardinals had bases-loaded chances however were unable to capitalize.

The Cardinals went 2 and 4 on their trip.

The Kansas City Royals avoided a series sweep against the Tampa Bay Rays with a 9-8 win last night (Wednesday) at the K.

In the bottom of the 9th of a tie game and with the Royals down to their last out and runners on their toes ready to score, Salvador Perez ripped a ball past a diving third baseman for a walk-off game-winning hit.
