Several Community R6 Track Team members are State bound after competing in the Class 1A Sectionals at South Callaway on Saturday.

Dylan Hoyt earned fifth place in the mile run.

Justin Duenke finished just shy of advancing in shot put in fifth place with a throw of 11.79m.

Paige Meyer, junior, finished in second place with a jump of 4’8.25″, just behind Kendell Holweg of Delta who had a final jump of 4’9.5″.

Meyer also competed in triple jump, her jump of 9.08m landed her in sixth place.

In the girls’ 100m hurdles, Victoria DiSalvo finished just outside the qualifiers in fifth place with a time of 18.63 seconds.

Bethany Slovensky of Wellsville-Middletown finished first with a time of 16.81 seconds.

However, DiSalvo battled back and is advancing to state in the girls’ 300m hurdles, where she placed fourth along with Slovensky who finished first again with a time of 48.75.

Brianna Beamer is heading back to state for a second time in the 800m run. This weekend, she finished fourth with a time of 2:35.83.

The Trojans’ relay teams in the 4×100, 4×200 and 4×400 are moving on to state.

According to results, the team of Emma Angel, Sarah Angel, Emmi Johnson and Brianna Beamer shaved down their time significantly in the 4×400 meter relay.

The State competition will be held in Jefferson City this Saturday, May 22nd.

District play is starting for the Mexico High School Baseball Team and Girls Soccer Team today.

The 3 seed Mexico Bulldogs Baseball Team plays the 2 seed Macon Tigers with the first pitch at 7pm.

The winner advances to the the championship game to be played on Wednesday at 5pm.

The Mexico Girls Soccer Team is the 7th seed in their District bracket and play 2 seed Winfield in Mexico at 6pm.

Mexico Freshman golfer Aidan Knipfel is competing at the State Tournament.

Knipfel is the first freshman to qualify for the State Tournament from the Mexico Boys Golf Team in at least 21 years.

The Tournament is being held today (Monday) and tomorrow (Tuesday) at the Crown Pointe Golf Club and Resort.

The Missouri Tigers Softball Team will host an NCAA Tournament regional for the first time since 2016.

The Tigers earned the number 8 overall seed in the tournament and Columbia will serve as one of 16 regional hosts.

At a top-8 seed, Missouri would also host a super regional if it advances.

The Tigers will open tournament play against UIC at 3:30 Friday afternoon.

The St. Louis Cardinals lost 5-3 to the San Diego Padres on the road last night (Sunday).

The Redbirds were swept in the 3 game series.

Nolan Arenado hit a home run in all 3 games.

The Cardinals are off today, as they travel to Pittsburgh to start a series with the Pirates tomorrow night (Tuesday).

The Kansas City Royals lost 3-4 to the Chicago White Sox. Kansas City and Chicago split the 4-game series in Chicago.

The Royals have the day off and return home to the K tomorrow night to face the Milwaukee Brewers.
