KWWR Sports Report 5/24

Members of the Community R6 Track Team competed Saturday in the MSHSAA State Class 1A Track and Field competition at the Jefferson City High School. Wellsville-Middletown also competed.

Girls 4x100m relay: Community R6 was 14th with a time of 55.90. The team members are: Emma Angel, Sarah Angel, Brianna Beamer, and Emmi Johnson.

Girls 4x200m relay: Community R6 was 13th with a time of 1:58.66. Same team.

Girls 4x400m relay: Community R6 was 10th with a time of 4:34.13. Same team.

800m run: Brianna Beamer got 4th with a time of 2:28.39. Delaney Strauss of Marion County took first.

High Jump: Paige Meyer was 14th overall. She got out at 4’9.5″. Her last jump that was cleared was 4’71/2″.

300m hurdles: Victoria DiSalvo was 12th. She had a time of 51:43.

The Mizzou Softball Team is headed to its first Super Regional since 2016, after no-hitting Iowa 5-0 yesterday (Sunday).

The Tigers gave up just 2 hits in three NCAA Regional games and outscored their opponents 17-0.

Up next Mizzou will host James Madison University in the Super Regional on Friday.

The St. Louis Cardinals lost 2-1 in ten innings to the Chicago Cubs.

Adam Wainwright pitched 8 scoreless innings allowing just one hit.

The Cardinals went 1 and 2 in the three game series against the Cubs.

The Kansas City Royals defeated the Detroit Tigers 3-2 with a walk off blast from Carlos Santana.

Carlos hammered a line drive over the right-center-field wall for a 2-run home run to give the Royals the win and the series victory at Kauffman Stadium.

The St. Louis Blues had their season come to an end in a 5-2 loss against the Colorado Avalanche at the Enterprise Center.

The Blues were swept in four games in the Stanley Cup First Round series.

Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice and Jordan Binnington made 29 saves for the Blues, who were eliminated in the first round for the second straight season after winning the Stanley Cup in 2019.
