Columbia Fire Department Loses Valued Member of Their Fire Marshal’s Office
Columbia firefighters are mourning the loss of one of their investigators.
Izzo, the Columbia Fire Department’s accelerant detecting K9 died after a sudden illness.
Izzo was assigned to Battalion Chief Jim Pasley in the Fire Marshal’s office and was often at community events and investigated fires not only in Columbia but in other cities if requested.
Izzo was initially trained to be a guide dog for the blind, but wasn’t well suited for that work as he was always following his nose and wanting to work.
