One Dead in Officer-Involved Shooting in Columbia

More details are being released by Columbia Police regarding an officer-involved shooting this afternoon (Wednesday).

In a press conference, Chief Geoff Jones says officers were at Petro Mart at Stadium and Ash and called for emergency assistance, that shots had been fired, and one subject was down.

Emergency aid was rendered to the 38 year old male, but he died of his injuries.

His name is not being released pending notification of next of kin.

He was wanted on a felony probation and parole warrant for drug possession and was armed at the time of the shooting involving two Columbia PD officers.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was requested to investigate the incident and the Internal Affairs Division of Columbia Police will investigate as well to see if any department policies were violated.
