The Wellsville Middletown High School Baseball Team lsot 9-8 in 9 innings to Leeton yesterday (Wednesday) in the quarterfinals of Sectionals.

Wellsville Middletown ends the season with an 11-10 record.

The St. Louis Cardinals avoided a series sweep against the Chicago White Sox yesterday (Wednesday) with a 4-0 win.

Tommy Edman hit 2 home runs.

The Cardinals won the game, however relief pitcher Giovanny Gallegos lost his hat after having it confiscated by umpire crew chief Joe West.

The cap appeared to have some dark marking, and will be sent to Major League Baseball for further evaluation.

Cards Manager Mike Shildt was ejected from the game after voicing his displeasure to the umpire.

The Kansas City Royals lost 2-1 in 10 innings to the Tamp Bay Rays on the road last night (Wednesday).

The rubber match in the series will be played this afternoon.
